Today I came across a video f of our pitch in San Francisco for a grant to fund some amazing ideas all created in a design sprint of BIPOC parents, students, educators, and community members.

I think about the meme that is sweeping IG at the time of this post. I mention time because a meme’s lifecycle is dependent on the attention span of our generation divided by the creativity of people of color.

We started this journey with no idea where it would lead us, but still seeking to better our community and the lives of our children. We started not knowing that we would have a Trustee among us, who is continuing to advocate for equity in our district. As for how its going…

I marvel in the resiliency of Black women. (I also wish that this resiliency did not have to exist.) In the time of COVID, we shifted our advocacy to zoom, and we still continue to reach out to any community, organization, non-profit, or individual that will speak with us. We are stronger together and we are better because of it. I am so grateful to be with such a supportive group of parents and students and look forward to the next artifact I find floating around the internet that will spark another post like this one.

In Solidarity.
